Events Internship

Overview of Internship
The intern will assist in execution of Foodwise’s major fundraising events. The internship will primarily focus on planning and execution of events with projects mutually agreed upon by Foodwise and the intern. Examples of such projects may include but are not limited to:
- Guest registration organization and support
- Auction solicitation and execution
- Communication with event attendees
- Event promotion and outreach
- Donor database input
- PR tool kit delivery to local restaurants
- Volunteer management
Internship Learning Objectives
- Individually responsible for planning and execution of one major project for the event
- Learn how events fit within a fundraising matrix for nonprofit success
- Learn how to organize and execute fundraising events
- Understand big picture planning as well as how to execute small details
- Develop team strategy by working with the development department
- Create production timelines and goals
- Gain nonprofit communications experience
- Learn about sustainable agriculture, farmers markets, and local food access
- Gain experience with event planning platforms (Asana, Google Suite, Salesforce, etc.)
- Opportunity to participate in to multiple Foodwise programs across departments
Skills and Qualifications
- Strong written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail
- Google Suite experience a plus
- Adobe Creative Suite experience a plus
- Interest in sustainable food systems
Hours and Duration of Internship
- Approximately three months in Summer or Fall
- Approximately 18 – 32 hours a week at the Foodwise office at San Francisco’s Ferry Building, farmers markets, or fundraising events; specific hours to be agreed upon
Terms of Internship
The intern reports to Foodwise’s Partnerships & Events Manager. Foodwise will provide training as needed and will fulfill the intern’s learning objectives while also meeting the organization’s goals. Foodwise will provide performance feedback at the midpoint and at the completion of the internship.
Interns will receive a stipend of about $100 per week (about $1,250 total), in addition to the option of receiving academic credit. Interns will also learn about sustainable food systems, become familiar with the farmers market, and experience a nonprofit working environment.
