Farmers Market Brand Activations
Engage with your target audience through a brand activation at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market or Mission Community Market in San Francisco, two iconic markets on the forefront of California food culture.
Activating your brand at Foodwise farmers markets provides exclusive access to tens of thousands of diverse, socially aware, savvy food lovers, shoppers, and visitors at San Francisco’s top food destinations. The Ferry Plaza Farmers Market at the historic San Francisco Ferry Building and the Mission Community Market in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District are ideal locations to engage your brand with your target audience. We have experience hosting stops on nation-wide brand tours, custom boutique pop-ups, and everything in between.
Foodwise farmers markets attract tourists and locals alike, with consistently high foot traffic year-round in the Bay Area’s beautiful mild climate.
Foodwise is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that operates farmers markets and educational programs that bring together farmers, food makers, chefs, home cooks, and visitors to create a vibrant, diverse community that celebrates the region’s best produce and sets national food trends on the cutting edge of sustainability.

What is your partnership criteria?
Foodwise works with socially minded businesses that prioritize sustainability and community health. As a nonprofit focused on regenerative and equitable food systems, it’s important that food businesses we partner with have sustainability criteria such as being certified organic, certified non-GMO, certified fair trade, or sourcing locally grown products.
Is any equipment provided?
Activation partners can rent select market equipment like tents, tent weights, tables, and chairs from Foodwise for an additional fee.
Can I cook on site or serve food samples?
Yes! We are happy to work with you to support cooking on site and sharing food samples. This is subject to City of San Francisco food sampling safety guidelines and requires pre-approval by Foodwise. There are additional opportunities to sponsor a cooking demonstration in the Foodwise Classroom and share free samples with farmers market shoppers.
Who is my contact?
Our Partnerships & Events Manager will work with you leading up to your activation. We will share a customized fact sheet before your activation with your day-of contact and with all load-in, parking, and load-out details.
What are the load-in and load-out times?
Arrival time varies by market day and the complexity of your set up. On average, load-in starts two hours before each market starts and load-out begins when each market ends. Our farmers markets are open rain or shine.
What utilities are available?
There is no electrical, water, or Wi-Fi access available. If you need electricity at your activation, you will need to bring a generator. Trash access is available.
Can I distribute giveaways to market shoppers?
Yes! Any giveaways distributed to market shoppers must be approved in advance and must not conflict with Foodwise’s mission, sustainability standards, or the businesses that participate in the farmers markets.
